Europeans for al-Quds: 3 killed, 15 wounded, and 132 detainees in Jerusalem in August

The European for al-Quds organization has confirmed that Israeli violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem have seen a significant increase, with 905 violations documented during last August.

The organization said in its monthly report that the violations were distributed across 17 categories of human rights violations. The highest categories were raids at 40.4% and arrests at 14.6%.

The report documented 65 incidents of direct shooting and assault by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in the neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem, which resulted in the killing of the young man Muhannad Al-Mazraa and the child Khaled Zaanin, while the wounded Ahmed Abu Sneineh died from an injury he sustained two years ago.

The report also documented the injury of 15 citizens, as well as at least 37 citizens being beaten and tortured, most of them during the invasion of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The report also documented the violations and attacks committed by IOF against Palestinians during July. The report states that the IOF carried out 366 raids on Palestinian towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, arresting 132 Palestinians, including 26 children and 6 women. In addition, 20 were placed under house arrest.

The report also documented 20 demolitions during which the occupying forces destroyed 16 housing units, including 16 houses and apartments. Among them were 7 demolitions that forced owners to self-demolish, in addition to the demolition of 8 facilities. During the month, 102 demolition notices were distributed.

The IOF continued to perpetuate settlement and Judaization. The report documented 4 projects and decisions of a settlement and Judaization nature, the most dangerous of these was the Israeli government’s approval of the so-called “Five-Year Plan for the Development of East Jerusalem,” which aims to deepen its absolute control over the holy city, completely change its Arab and Islamic face, and Judaize it, to implement the plans it seeks.

During the month, 3,891 settlers, accompanied by tens of thousands of tourists, entered Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was repeatedly raided for 23 days.

Israeli authorities issued 17 deportation orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Old City, and the Damascus Gate.

The report documents 10 attacks carried out by settlers that resulted in injuries to many Palestinians in addition to performing Talmudic rituals.

The report also monitored 50 fixed and flying checkpoints, 2 travel bans, 2 collective punishment and 5 violations against journalists.

Israeli forces continued to violate the economic, social, and cultural rights of Palestinians in Jerusalem. During the month, Israeli forces imposed numerous violations on merchants and imposed fines on them. This month also saw a focus on targeting Palestinian education in Jerusalem and the confiscation of Palestinian textbooks.

The Europeans for al-Quds warned of the danger of the five-year plan approved by the Israeli government, which seeks to tighten its control over the occupied city of Jerusalem and impose Judaization and change the character of the city.
